On this day in 2010 Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan both scored to secure a 2-1 victory for Newcastle at Upton Park. Ironically, Carroll and Nolan are both plying their trade at the club they handed out damaging blows to two years ago. The defeat was one of many for the Hammers which saw them relegated in 2010/11 campaign. It was West Ham who opened up the scoring in the game when Carton Cole netted the ball home from close range. However, Chris Hughton’s side turned the game around via the aid of Andy Carroll. The former Newcastle no.9 had a hand in both goals for the Toon. He set up the first goal which was converted by Nolan who from eight yards out when he smashed in a powerful low shot. Carroll put on a fantastic display – causing the West Ham defence serious problems. He got his reward on the 69th minute when Barton set up the striker who headed the ball home to get his name on the score sheet. It’s remarkable to think about the differences that have occurred since this match. A lot of us were gutted to see Chris Hughton leave, Jose Enrique leave, Joey Barton leave, Kevin Nolan leave and Andy Carroll leave. But look at us now! Would you take the two current West Ham men back if you could? Let us know your thoughts?
